A Gorgeous Colorful Public Aquatic Center in France
This stunning public project, Les Bains Des Docks Aquatic Center in Le Havre, France, shows what the public bath was supposed to look like!
The simply amazing public pool complex, including more than six indoor and outdoor pools in a fascinating labyrinth, shows that public places need not be dreary, but can be almost spa-like.
Among the six separate pools is this beautiful Olympic-sized outdoor lap pool.
The clean white color is offset by a splash of brilliant reds and yellows and oranges that can be glimpsed from many of the indoor swimming spaces.
The splash of brilliant colors in the crisp white setting denotes the childrens area, and it is full of the fun water features that so transfix children.
But fun water features are not just for kids
Architect Ateliers Jean Nouvel has designed a center that invites you to experience every part of it. His design fully lives up the tradition of public aquatic centers first developed by the ancient Romans.
They surely would have expected us to be this well served by the public baths.
