Leura House by James Stockwell Architect – beautiful and energy efficient
Nesting in a mountain valley, Leura House by James Stockwell Architect is an architectural masterpiece located in Leura, New South Wales – Australia. It was made for Former Federal Court Judge Murray Wilcox and his wife Christine Wilcox with the idea to accommodate their big family – children, grandchildren and friends. Together with its aesthetic merits (it is build in the discontinuous unity method), the house should get a lot of credit for the smart technical solutions and sustainable energy systems. They include: The ‘rammed sandstone’ walls (mixture of crushed sandstone, 10% cement, chips of iron, stone and quartz),passive solar performance system consisting 20 PV panels producing 5kwh/day, a 100,000lt tank under the bedroom wing, to name just a few. Surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Mountains, Leura house is nevertheless beautiful and stunning, as you will see.
