Rent a Stay in a Minimalist Architectural Paradise
This minimalist masterpiece by Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects (SAOTA) located in Campus Bay, South Africa is available for rent.
First Crescent Villa is a beautiful house, with restraint used, even in the variety of materials used throughout. Every surface is smooth and pale.
A 270 degree view of Lions Head, Camps Bay and the Atlantic Ocean around the front is captured with floor to ceiling glass.
Just in case the seemingly infinite views around the front are not overwhelming enough, outdoors, the house has another infinite view framed as well, of the vast blue sky.
The masterbedroom/master bathroom has many of the simple charms of minimal architecture. There is no visible drain in the shower. The shower water just drains through the stones in the floor.
Abundant space in the bathroom affords simply a peaceful view of the world, instead of wasting wall space to make a fussy mirror for your ablutions.
The back of the bathroom sink forms the smooth and simple headboard for the bed. Admirably simple and uncomplicated.
The master bedroom is at this end of the top floor, which houses the kitchen, living areas, indoors, and then out. Beneath this floor to the left of the entrance are the childrens bedrooms. A very successful house.
Some of their work – specially public spaces like this above, can be decidedly on the glitzy side, although very well engineered. Which makes it all the more remarkable, that in this house, their signature powerful cantilevered engineering competence stays, but the glitz is gone. Nice.
