– Re-cover the sofa.

If you’ve got the handy skills to be able to make a sofa cover from scratch then that’s great because it’s the cheapest way to do it.

If you don’t then you needn’t worry there are plenty of ready made sofa and cushion covers available on the market.

-Hire a professional upholsterer.

This is a more expensive option than buying ready made sofa-covers but like all things in design if it’s tailor made and bespoke it will have a higher price tag. The upsides are that the cover will be very high quality, probably a lot more durable and  also professional upholsters will be able to do things like replace the foam in the sofa or construct different shaped arms for your old sofa.

-Remember that not only will updating your sofa cost you a lot less than buying a new one it’s also an environmentally friendly option because you are essentially recycling an item that would other wise land up on a dump somewhere!
